Description
Depart from San José and travel through the central volcanic mountains toward Limón Province, Costa Rica’s Afro-Caribbean region, where climate, temperature, and scenery change dramatically. Near Guápiles, pass vast banana plantations before reaching the embarkation point.
Continue by boat into Tortuguero National Park, gliding through lush rainforest canals rich in flora and fauna. With luck, you may spot sloths, monkeys, crocodiles, turtles, and many tropical birds.
In the afternoon, visit the small village of Tortuguero.
